Installing Day Time Running Lights (DRLS)

In this post i will show you how to install DRLS in your hyundai eon. The process is a bit complicated but if you follow my instructions properly you shoud have working DRLS in your car. DRLS as you know do not have a switch they come on as soon as u insert your key and that is what i am going to do i will take power from the accessories fuse box. The connection that i will show you will make the DRLS to go off after 15-20 sec after you have removed you keys or when your key is removed from the accessories position.
Things that you will need for this DIY
1. A set of daytime running lights (DRLS)
2. Wires
3. Double sided tape

Step 1
The first thing you have to do is to decide where you want to place your DRLS. Once that is done you need to measure ur wire so that it can be connected to any of the nuts for the ground and the positive wire will go into the fuse box in the bonnet as shown in the image below.

Step 2
Unbolt any nut that is bolted into the chassis and connect your negative or ground wire to it.

Step 3
For the positive wire u need to locate your fuse box which is behind the battery. Open the fuse box and remove the fuse as shown in the image below. Insert the positive wire  as shown in the image. And replace the fuse back into its place. Refer to the circuit below.

Step 4
Insert you key and turn it to the accessories position and see your DRLS come to life. As soon as you turn your key back to the off position and you remove it after 10-15 sec the DRLS will switch off automatically.

CAUTION: This DIY requires you to work with your fuse box and if a wire is inserted into the incorrect pole it could reset your trip meters. Using a parallel line to the fuse box may be dangerous and may be unsafe. The publisher is not resposible for any damage that may happen while undertaking this DIY.

    1. Hi kasun glad to hear that you liked the tutorial. I still have the drls connected in my car and i have faced no problem so far it has been over a year and a half there is no problem. but i suggest you be very careful while working with the cars electrical as you may blow a fuse maybe not in this DIY but be cautious with the Ground and Positive wires.

Feel free to get back with any questions.
      Happy Modifying.

    2. Thanks bro,
Anyways I'm thinking of taking power from the 12v outlet from inside or the audio system cuz I'm thinking of adding 4 LED strips (30cm strips) to the front number area. If I take power from the fuse as u have explained, will there be a power overload? What do u suggest? Thanks in advance..

    3. Sorry for the late reply. We can take power from the fuse or any power source there shud be no overload. If the connection is from a fuse then u don't need to worry about a switch. Strip lights don't consume much power.
